Katan

A Sunday afternoon at Nanna's playing Katan. Nearly perfect. (I didn't win) I am still waiting for my "just keep buying roads" theory to pay off.

"Daddy broke my bed!"

After much begging from Kamryn, we finally moved Gabby in with Sydney and gave Kami her own room. Gabby really wasn't sure what was going on. She loves her big girl bed and sleeping in Sydney's room. But, she keeps asking me why her daddy broke her bed. This is a big moment in our lives. The last baby out of a crib. Anyone need a crib? I thought I might be sad saying goodbye to one of the last symbols of babyness in our house. I'm not. Gabby no longer argues about going to bed. She no longer cries in the middle of the night because she can't get out of bed to reach the sippy cup she dropped. Kamryn is in heaven in her own room. She basks in her privacy every afternoon. She wants to go furniture shopping (not going to happen). Now if we could just complete potty training our kids will all be ready to move out. Just kidding.

Good Dog

Why do people always talk about a BOY and his dog. Our girls love their dog. We probably have the best dog on earth. She has put up with 2 toddlers in our house so far. Gabby uses her as a stool to climb into our bed. She tempts the dog with food only to run off laughing, hoping for a game of chase. Yes, Maggie is a good dog.

Can't Find the Camera

Once again, I can't find the camera. I actually have a few minutes to sit down and down-load some pictures and where is the camera? Kamryn often enjoys borrowing it to make movies with her dolls. I asked her where she left it and sure enough her reply was "I put it back where it belongs." Should I believe her? I would love to believe her and assume an evil camera thief snuck into the house and stole the camera. More likely she set it down somewhere and can't remember where. So, the search continues and no new pictures are posted. Sorry. Maybe an old picture will have to do.

Working 30 hours a week has really cut down on everything in my life. Not enough time for housework, homework, or blogging. I seem to find time to read blogs but can't squeeze in time to add to my own. With the increase in work hours I have come to appreciate the sacrifices that women all over the world make to take care of their families. Until this point I have enjoyed full days at home working on projects and making dinners. I can't say I loved cleaning out closets but I do miss the ability to complete necessary tasks. I actually miss making the Sam's club run and spending hours planning out a week of dinners. I am hoping that after I get used to the new schedule I will learn to find time to do all the "mom" things that are going undone for the time being.

This weekend is Kaylee's 13th Birthday party. I can't believe we officially have a teenager. In 5 years she will be leaving for college. How did we get so old so fast. We are so proud of Kaylee. She is a really sweet, smart, beautiful young lady and we love her dearly. Happy Birthday !!

SNOW!!!!

It snowed in North Carolina this week. It was beautiful. One day of snow and the kids had 3 days off of school. Amazing. The city came to a stand still. Maggie the dog wasn't sure what to think of all this cold wet stuff. It was pretty but I am glad it is gone.

Yes, that is a kayak. It makes a great sled. It even fit 2 kids. The dog wasn't so sure about it though.

Because we were gone for Christmas we decided to hold a post-New Years party at our house with the family. Matt made Navajo Taco's. Thanks to the Rasors' for their recipes. Everyone enjoyed the food. We always try to play a game with the adults and send the children else where. This never seems to quite work out. This year poor Beth ended up leaving early because one of her kids was having a melt down. This was particularly sad because she is always the life of the party. We did get one game in and I insist we continue to try. Maybe we will have to go so far as hire a babysitter next time.
